Meet Our Collaborators

Kiana Henley

Kiana Henley founded the Socially Engaged Authors Collaborative and is currently the sole editor and consultant for hire. She is also a collaborator for the SEAC Journal. She holds an MA in Public Policy and an MA in the Social Sciences, both from the University of Chicago, and a BFA in Sculpture and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute. In addition to her editing work, she is a researcher and strategic communicator with experience supporting faculty, nonprofits, and public agencies in advancing racial and gender equity.

Over the past eight years, she has partnered with clients on projects ranging from academic research to grant writing, project management, and community outreach. Her work often focuses on housing segregation, criminal justice policy, voting rights, and education—especially where these issues intersect.

Kiki Serna

Aquetzali (Kiki) Serna is a Mexican visual artist living in Kansas City, Missouri. She received her Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2016. Kiki has recently shown her work at García Squared, OVAC, and Beco Gallery. Kiki was a resident of Charlotte Street’s Studio Residency from 2018–2020 and is the current gallery coordinator at Mattie Rhodes Art Center.

Kiki works within performance, painting, engrudo sculpture, and collage-based practices. She portrays her family's immigration story and her own narrative through her visual practice. Her work finds a space within social practices, the immigrant experience, and generational to personal memory. Kiki enjoys collaborating, coordinating, working on art, and community engaged projects.
